Happy Holidays!

Seasons greetings and happy holidays! Hope you all had a fabulous festive season with your friends and family :)

The snow finally arrived on Boxing Day and we are having a ball! The ice rinks around town are all open air and free! I've always dreamed of owning a pair of white figure skates growing up (I've spent most of my high school days in stinky, cold, wet blue skates from Macquarie Ice Rink) and Dang finally got me a pair for Christmas! Yay!

We have done a little travelling here and there (Montreal, Quebec City, Hong Kong) over the past few months so I have a lot of posts backdated sorry! I'll try and catch up after the new year! Oh gotta go! Heading out to the Civic Hall now for the nye fireworks and festivities!

Ciao & Happy New Year! Miss you all! XXX Michelle

Canadian eh?

Hi guys! My first week in Toronto has been pretty great. After getting over major jet lag from my 32hr flight (courtesy of Qantas who delayed all my flights), Dang and I explored downtown and off to our never-ending search for decent coffee. Starbucks and Tim Hortons coffee are one of the few places to go for regular coffee and let's just say that filtered coffee ain't real coffee.

We currently live with my cousin and her family in the suburbs so transport usually involves catching 2 connecting busses which can be a little tricky. I love the homes out here though, the first picture on the left is of one of the beautiful homes you can find out here, along with Canadian geese shown on the right! Apparently there are beavers and chipmunks in the nearby lake so I am still on the hunt for them :)

Canadians are lovely people and so friendly. In the spirit of the Olympics, I thought I'd don some Canadian gear to prove I am actually here!

There is one thing that is a small cause for concern. Food. I'll do a post on the weird and "wonderful" food that Canada has to offer next time but for now, here is a sneak peak at POUTINE. Canada's national snack. It's a french canadian dish made with fries and topped with originally gravy and curd cheese.  Canadians love this and I have seen all sorts of weird toppings like cheeseburger, mexican and Lumberjack? Stay tuned for eclair hotdogs and Krispy Kreme donut burgers. You ain't seen nothing yet!

Let the countdown begin!

Hi!
I am so excited to launch this new blog to chronicle my journey and travel as I make the move and spend the next 12 months in Toronto, Canada. My bags are packed and I am counting down the sleeps before I hop on the plane and say goodbye to Sunny Sydney.

Where to go? What to eat? More importantly, where to shop? There’s much to do and this is only the tip of the iceberg as I plough my way through this gorgeous city. Are you ready? Let the countdown begin!
